Empowering Builders with Protected Iterations, Hybrid Workflows, and Enterprise Collaboration

Throughout July, our focus shifted toward giving builders greater control, safety, and flexibility throughout the entire application lifecycle. As teams build larger and more mission-critical applications on Steve, having robust safeguards, flexible branching, and seamless collaboration between AI and human developers is essential.

July introduces isolated change reviews with automated code analysis, frictionless local Git synchronization, multi-branch previews for enterprise teams, and key workspace refinements across Vibe Studio.

Safer Iterations with Protected Deployments

Building with confidence means never having an unverified change affect production. We have restructured how iterations are deployed and merged across both App Builder V1 and V2.

Protected Main Branch & Staging Previews: AI-driven updates no longer merge automatically into your main branch. Instead, changes build on isolated feature branches with dedicated preview channels, allowing you to review, test, and explicitly approve or reject updates before they go live.

Automated Pre-Merge Security & Quality Scans: When an update is approved, Steve runs an automated review pipeline before merging. This pipeline checks for exposed secrets with Gitleaks, validates package dependencies through OSV and pub.dev, and conducts deep code reviews to flag critical issues before code lands on main.

Hybrid Workflows & Local Development Synchronization

Builders often transition between AI prompting in Vibe Studio and editing code directly in their favorite local IDEs. July bridges this workflow seamlessly.

Auto-Rebuild on Push: Pushing commits to your project’s GitHub branches now automatically triggers background builds in Vibe Studio. The studio stages the update into the review pipeline without overwriting ongoing work, streaming real-time build statuses and change summaries directly into your workspace.

Human-Readable Branch Names: Generated branches now follow clear semantic naming (such as steve/feat-add-height-input), making it easy to track individual features across GitHub and Vibe Studio.

Enterprise Branch Previews & Visual Comparisons

For enterprise teams collaborating with dedicated engineers, we have introduced deeper transparency and control over parallel development streams.

Multi-Branch Previews & Side-by-Side Comparison: View live previews for any active branch or pull request directly within Vibe Studio. Teams can compare two builds side by side to evaluate changes visually before rollout.

Redesigned Build History: A new timeline side-rail categorizes builds across Live, Needs Review, and Drafts, accompanied by detailed changelogs and instant rollbacks.

Flexible Enterprise Controls: Workspace administrators can now set project-level monthly credit allocations, build limits, and invite team members directly via email with automatic provisioning.

Studio Polish, Persistence, and Security

We also delivered key performance, security, and quality-of-life updates to streamline everyday development:

Persistent Device Simulator: Vibe Studio now remembers your chosen device profile and orientation per project across page refreshes, logouts, and different machines.

Robust Preview Authentication: Resolved domain authorization and provider routing issues to ensure Google and Apple Sign-In work out of the box in preview environments.

Hardened Access Control: Project endpoints now feature stricter workspace ownership validation, zero-trust permission checks, and an expanded administrative dashboard for project oversight.

In August, we will build upon these foundations by continuing our rollout of multimodal capabilities, introducing deeper developer customization tools, and further refining our automated review pipelines to make app creation faster and more resilient.
